How much does Rybelsus cost?

What Rybelsus costs depends on where you live and how you pay. In the US, where the newer tablets are sold as the Ozempic pill, Novo Nordisk's self-pay price is $149 a month for 1.5 mg, $199 for 4 mg and $299 for 9 mg (30 tablets), as of September 2026¹³. With commercial insurance, Novo Nordisk says eligible patients may pay as little as $25 a month for up to 3 months (maximum saving $100 a month)¹. Outside the US, the prices we found in September 2026 ranged from AED 641 for 30 tablets in the UAE to INR 2,971.50 to INR 3,628 for a strip of 10 tablets at Indian maximum retail prices⁸⁹¹¹. Whether a health system or insurer pays varies widely: US insurance plans commonly cover semaglutide for type 2 diabetes, while Ireland's HSE does not reimburse Rybelsus and Singapore does not subsidise it¹⁴¹⁵.

What affects the price of Rybelsus?

• Your country. Pricing rules differ. In India, pharmacies sell at or below a printed maximum retail price (MRP). In South Africa, pharmacies must charge the Single Exit Price plus a regulated dispensing fee¹⁸. In the US, the manufacturer sets a list price, and what you pay depends on your insurance or a self-pay offer.
• The strength set. Rybelsus comes as 3, 7 and 14 mg oval tablets and as newer, better-absorbed 1.5, 4 and 9 mg round tablets; 1.5 mg is equivalent to 3 mg, 4 mg to 7 mg and 9 mg to 14 mg². Which set is sold differs by country. In the US and India the price rises with the strength, while the UAE pharmacies we checked charged the same price for every strength^1891011.
• Public cover. Whether a national health service or subsidy scheme funds Rybelsus decides whether you pay a small charge or the full price.
• Insurance. Private insurers may cover it for type 2 diabetes, often only after prior authorisation, meaning the insurer has to approve it in advance.
• Self-pay schemes. In the US, Novo Nordisk sells the tablets at fixed cash prices and runs a savings offer for insured patients¹³.
• Generics. Generic semaglutide tablets are sold only in India, at lower prices than Rybelsus⁹¹². See generic Rybelsus.
• Service fees. Online doctor and telehealth services may charge a consultation or membership fee on top of the medicine.

How much is Rybelsus in the US?

In the US, oral semaglutide for type 2 diabetes now goes by the Ozempic name. The 1.5, 4 and 9 mg tablets are sold as Ozempic tablets, often called the Ozempic pill, and share one prescribing information with Rybelsus 3, 7 and 14 mg². Ozempic tablets became available on 4 May 2026¹.

These are Novo Nordisk's self-pay prices, announced on 1 May 2026 and still listed by NovoCare in September 2026¹³. They apply through NovoCare Pharmacy, Novo Nordisk's own home-delivery pharmacy, through selected telehealth providers and at local pharmacies that accept Novo's self-pay offer. People with government coverage, such as Medicare or Medicaid, are excluded¹³. Telehealth services may add their own fees.

With insurance

Novo Nordisk says that people with commercial insurance may pay as little as $25 a month for up to 3 months (maximum saving $100 a month) with its savings offer, subject to eligibility restrictions¹. What you pay otherwise depends on your plan's formulary and co-pay, and many plans require prior authorisation. Medicare Part D plans set their own coverage for diabetes medicines. The separate Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, which runs from 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2027, covers some GLP-1 medicines for weight loss only and excludes people with type 2 diabetes⁷.

List price

The list price is the manufacturer's price before insurers' discounts and rebates. Before the US rename, Rybelsus had a list price of about $998 for 30 tablets, as reported by Noom, and SingleCare reported pharmacy cash prices of roughly $1,000 to $1,400 a month in November 2025⁴⁵. In February 2026 Novo Nordisk announced that the US list price of its semaglutide medicines, including Rybelsus 7 mg and 14 mg, will fall to $675 a month from 1 January 2027⁶. The self-pay prices above are already lower than that.

How health systems and insurers cover Rybelsus elsewhere

Outside the US, what you pay depends mostly on whether your public health system or insurer funds Rybelsus. Where it is funded you usually pay a prescription charge or co-payment; where it is not, you pay the full private price. As of September 2026:

• Ireland: not reimbursed by the HSE. The National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics recommended in February 2021 that it should not be reimbursed unless its cost-effectiveness improved¹⁴.
• Singapore: not subsidised. Medication Assistance Fund help does not apply to semaglutide for type 2 diabetes¹⁵.
• India: most people pay for it themselves, because public schemes and most health insurance policies focus on hospital care rather than monthly prescriptions.
• UAE: there is no single public payer for medicines, so cover depends on your health insurance plan's formulary and prior-approval rules.
• South Africa: type 2 diabetes is a Chronic Disease List condition that every medical scheme must cover as a Prescribed Minimum Benefit, but whether a newer medicine such as Rybelsus is paid for depends on your scheme and option¹⁶.

Rybelsus prices outside the US

• UAE: AED 641 for a pack of 30 tablets, the same for 3, 7 and 14 mg and including VAT, at the pharmacies we checked in September 2026⁸.
• India: maximum retail prices of INR 2,971.50 (3 mg), INR 3,300 (7 mg) and INR 3,628 (14 mg) for a strip of 10 tablets in September 2026, or roughly INR 8,900 to INR 10,900 for 30 tablets. Online pharmacies often sell below MRP⁹¹⁰¹¹. Novo Nordisk cut its Indian prices for the Ozempic and Wegovy injections after generics launched, but said it was not planning a similar cut for Rybelsus¹³. Dr. Reddy's launched its generic tablets at INR 99, 135 and 225 per tablet for 3, 7 and 14 mg in May 2026¹².
• Ireland, Singapore and South Africa: we found no published pharmacy price for Rybelsus as of 22 September 2026. In South Africa, no Single Exit Price is listed for it¹⁷.
