What is sold here

Rybelsus is registered with HSA (registrant Novo Nordisk Pharma (Singapore) Pte Ltd), but we could not confirm which strengths are registered because HSA's online product register was not accessible to us. Ask your doctor or pharmacist which strengths they can supply.

What it is licensed for

Type 2 diabetes in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control. It is not registered for weight loss.

Prescription rules

Prescription-only medicine (POM). It is supplied by clinics (doctors in Singapore commonly dispense), hospital and polyclinic pharmacies, licensed retail pharmacies against a prescription, and licensed telemedicine providers.

How to get a prescription

Rybelsus needs a prescription from a Singapore-registered doctor. Most people with type 2 diabetes are managed by a polyclinic or a GP clinic, often the clinic they enrolled with under Healthier SG, or by a hospital specialist. The doctor reviews your blood sugar results and other medicines and decides whether oral semaglutide is suitable. Because it is not on MOH's subsidy lists, ask about the cost and whether you can use MediSave under the Chronic Disease Management Programme.

Clinics in Singapore usually dispense medicines themselves, so you often receive Rybelsus at the clinic. You can also consult a licensed telemedicine provider such as Doctor Anywhere, WhiteCoat or MaNaDr by video; if the doctor prescribes a medicine, it is delivered to you. Telemedicine consultations must be by live two-way video.

If you want a medicine for weight management rather than diabetes, a doctor can discuss options registered in Singapore, such as Wegovy or Mounjaro injections. We found no evidence that the Wegovy pill or Foundayo had been registered in Singapore as of September 2026.

Cost and cover

MediSave (Chronic Disease Management Programme) and MOH drug subsidies

Rybelsus is not subsidised. When the Agency for Care Effectiveness reviewed GLP-1 medicines for type 2 diabetes in December 2022, dulaglutide was added to the Medication Assistance Fund from 1 February 2023, but MAF assistance does not apply to any formulation or strength of semaglutide or liraglutide for type 2 diabetes, so patients at public institutions pay the unsubsidised price.

Diabetes is a condition under the Chronic Disease Management Programme, so Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents can use MediSave for outpatient diabetes care, including medicines, at polyclinics, public specialist outpatient clinics and participating GP clinics: up to S$500 a year under MediSave500, or S$700 under MediSave700 for complex chronic conditions. Since 1 February 2024, patients treated for CDMP conditions at their Healthier SG-enrolled clinic no longer have to pay 15% of the bill in cash and can use MediSave for the whole bill, up to these limits.

Paying yourself

We could not find a published retail price for Rybelsus in Singapore. Clinics and pharmacies set their own medicine charges and usually add a consultation fee (for example S$25 to S$49 for a telemedicine consultation), so ask for a quote before starting.

Checking a pharmacy is genuine

Retail pharmacies need an HSA retail pharmacy licence, and an online pharmacy service needs separate HSA approval, a Singapore domain and a pharmacist in charge. Clinics and telemedicine providers must hold a Ministry of Health licence under the Healthcare Services Act, and their doctors must be registered with the Singapore Medical Council. A legitimate service will always involve a doctor's prescription before supplying Rybelsus. HSA regularly removes illegal online listings of health products, so avoid marketplace or social media sellers.
